The shipping dewar positional cooling device (SDPCD, known as the ‘Cajun Ejector’) is a 3-D printable device that can assist cryopreservation with various standard cooling rates by use with shipping dewars. Efforts in development of germplasm repositories to preserve genetic resources of aquatic species are impeded globally by a lack of standardized, inexpensive, reproducible, and portable cryopreservation technologies.

The Micro Cajun Ejector (v1.1.0) a 3-D printed standardizable freezing device tailored specifically for the MVE BL-7 nitrogen vapor shipping dewar. This device holds 22 French straws (0.25-mL or 0.5-mL) and has a quick-release ring design to eject straws directly into the dewar by pressing a button after freezing. This device and the BL-7 are affordable, lightweight, and portable, making them ideal for field cryopreservation. More info on https://3d.nih.gov/entries/3DPX-021506
